No offense but,
I created this thread because I wanted to know if the possibility of a new animated series and a new live-action series were true or not. Of course I asked about the possibility about a new film too but,
...Why go on about how violent a film is, here? And I'm sorry if this is considered mini-modding, but seriously, I'm getting tired of this.

While this is a bit off-topic, it also has relevancy in that the film's lack of success all but eliminates hope for a new English language series.
True, but the terror on his face & his papa's total helplessness make this moot. Even if they had cut that scene, but kept the terrorized faces, the cries for help, and the lying reassurances, and simply moved to a funeral scene it would still have the same emotional content. Some films used the viewers' imaginations to fill the gap, & this would have been similar. We knew he was doomed; & the horror of the father being condemned to watch his only child die was all that was needed. If they had instead shown Tenma's eyes widen, that would have been even more intense.
I think, if anything, it was perhaps, too long. The primary target audience is known for its rather small bladder capacity. Old Disney movies were rarely even 90 minutes because the makers knew that kids could not sit there for that long; not to mention, their short attention spans.
irate:
So, you are o.k. with ROBOSEXUALS?
I'm sorry, I just could not help myself! Off topic, has anyone been watching the new season of FUTURAMA?
I SHOULD START AN APPROPRIATE THREAD.

I've seen a lot of violent anime's and movies. I've also played very violent video games, but he got vaporized for christ's sake! It's not like he got decapitated, stabbed or shot. He was vaporized.

"jeffbert" wrote:
The problem with the 2009 movie is that it is too different. Except from Astro, Temna and O'Shay i'm not sure if anyone else in the anime was in the movie. There was no floating city in the original anime and they even changed Astro's power source to "Blue Core Energy"
Rommel was in it.
I don't remember seeing Rommel. What sort of character did he play Jeffbert?
Hamegg was clearly in it as himself and I thought President Stone and his henchman, whatever his name was, seemed to be based upon the duo of Tick and Tuck. Also Shunsaku ban was clearly there, albeit a very brief cameo towards the beginning of the film.

Flirting, well..they were. In the novel Astro actually says 'I work out' as a cover story for saving her, I'd of loved to have seen parents reaction if that line had stay in lol. But I don't understand why parents would nit pick that, I mean there's cute innocent pairings all the time in kid films (and like you said there was barely any romance), look at the film Casper! I think parents are getting a little over protective.
But back on subject, I'm not sure if the new animated series is true, I haven't come across anything on it so it could just be a rumor that's going around. If there is though they might have news on Tezukaproductions website, so if there's any place to it'd be there. But I will keep an eye out for you Dr. Jerk if i find anything. =3

That's fine, I appreciate it.
Unfortunate that a source couldn't be found. But like many things, the 2009 movie itself was also one of the rumors. I guess it was the only one fated to turn out true.

You are lucky. If it was not for the Internet, I wouldn't even know what is "Futurama". And I would have never known what was that strange robot appearing from nowhere in the quantum tunnel of one of the Simpsons episode

The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.
