Same with the '03 series, in selected parts of selected episodes (e.g. Into thin Air, the ep that features Denkou) when the sky riders are flying they used a tiny bit of Computer Animation.

it not bad CGI but using it for the entire movie is a waste.

Yes, but you can't expect every CGI film in the world to be turned into an anime film. Its not all bad, but yes in many ways anime is better

For me my favourite version of Astro will always be the 1980's. Mostly because I grew up with it, so to me it will always feel like the "official" series.

But next to it, I like the 2000's series. It is very good and it has a very pretty re-curring robot character. (I'm sure my buddy Androids knows who I mean) ;) :w00t:

1960's is enjoyable as a novelty series and you can get a bit of a laugh out of all the visual gags, but I prefer the later more serious versions.

The CGI movie isn't even by Tezuka, it's an imitation inspired by his famous character. But I don't hate it. It's fun to watch every now and then. :)

Despite being my fav series, the '03 series wasn't completely written by Osamu Tezuka (Im sorry to say he passed away in 1989 :(

And yes, the '03 series does have a very pretty re-curring robot character  .

Yes he has a son, but his son more or less just supervises. He doesn't create his own work.

Yes, but I wish that Osamu Tezuka was still here.
