Jeffbert; Great, then I take it with Strange Wings help we will be seeing threads on episodes # 137 & 138?
Maybe you can add some scenes from the second opening?

I  :astro: :)

What's interesting to me about this opening is that they appear to have given a "promotion" to Uran's status to that of co-star. But they don't show Cobalt anywhere.

Maybe this was the time during which his future in the series was determined ("two's company, and three's a crowd!").

So the second opening was almost a mini-story in itself - Astro rescuing Dr. Elefun (with Uran hanging on for the ride :p )

They certainly traveled the globe in that one, NY, London, Italy, Paris, Africa. Cobalt didn't disappear from the series, at least he WAS in the very last episode and certainly was in many of the ones NOT dubbed into English. But I agree, it does appear that Uran was being promoted to costar. She didn't exist at the time that the first opening sequence was put together. Note how Uran is flying along with Astro, she's holding on to him by his shoulder, waist or leg with one hand (well she DOES have a 37 Megawatt grip!). Also note that the LAST opening sequence is once again with ONLY Astro, and that one only takes place only in Japan.

EDIT: Add India to the list. Just noticed the duo flying past the "Taz".

Cobalt's debut episode is #93, & the 3rd opening sequence debuts at #140. Sadly, I did not take note of when the 2nd sequence began. But I just checked, & it starts at #77.

Thank you, Jeffbert for the clarification. Then the second opening did not air in Japan until the summer of 1964 and the next change happened almost a year and three months later. Also thank you for the images.

Way to place the luxury liner on top of the tower of Pisa!
I love the randomness of the 2nd 60's opening! :D

Yes, #77 was shown July 4, 1964 Saturday, & #140 October 30, 1965
Saturday.

Strange Wings: yes, it is a great balancing act!
