Atom was once the mascot for a Japanese minor league baseball team, and except for the Mushi logo on his Jersey that looks like the image they used.

Your talk of Astro Boy and baseball reminded me of the episode in 1969 when Astro Boy and friends played in a baseball game against the stars of another anime!

I wonder if this was ever available on DVD, or streamed somewhere.
Also if it aired in 1969, this was Atom's first color appearance, except for the one color 1963 series episode, which wasn't actually broadcast in color, and a cameo appearance (single frame) in Kimba.

Yes it was! I don't think the series was ever released on video, but then again I could be wrong.

BTW the caption underneath the picture is from my translation. JeffBert isn't the only one with an unpublished book!
