Holy cow.

Fafner could you do me a favor and kick that server of yours in the arse and tell it to actually transmit the file already... it's showing 38000+ minutes remaining... oh wait I just checked, now it's only 8700+ minutes remaining. <eyeroll smilie>. It would transmit very slowly for a bit but then the flow would completley stop ("bytes downloaded" stops increasing) and then the time remaining shoots into the stratosphere. ...yep the flow stopped completely again, it's already showing 11000+ minutes remaining and nothing coming down the pipe...

A very slow file transfer I can deal with...as long as there's *something* coming down the pipe, I'm happy.. it's those 5+ minute stalls where nothing comes down that's bugging me...

I understand what you mean, I feel that way concerning downloads too
I found that line in the log file that must be for the download you are speaking about:

I just have reduced the upload rate of another application, you may gain up to 5 Kb/s

Uh, yeah that was me. The site crashed a while ago and they lost their user and torrent database. I was already seeding that from their site so I re-up'ed it.
Bagi is an excellent movie, seems to only be available as a fansub.

Someone launched on my server a parallel download of a half-dozen of videos with about 15 connections each, for a total of roughly a hundred connections :wacko: Needless to say that the poor little thing was brought to its knees A few hours later another one came, maybe the same. Apparently the offender(s) came from there:

Because the 2 IPs were too different, it was not possible for me to make an efficient ban on them and potential future offenders (although I did ban the 2 IPs). Therefore I have temporarily stopped the FTP server, and unlinked the "pub" link on the HTTP server until a solution is found.
So far I hesitated to use torrent files because they would go out of control and I might become too "visible". Apparently things went out of control anyway, so my main argument against torrenting has just fallen <_< So the solution will probably be to torrent the files so the more people they will be, the better it will be.
I hope you will forgive me DrFrag, for a moment I thought you might be responsible for that mess to convince me to at last torrent my files And yes, I had realized (after a few days) that your link was a discreet way to push me in that direction
