Princess Knight pics.

Hey all! I got the above dvd box set in the mail yesterday.
:wahah: Man, this set is beautiful. Inside the box are five discs, each one in there own normal sized dvd case and each disc is a picture disc. The cover art for disc 2 is my favorite, wish I could scan it for you. There's a little booklet too.
The set has the first 26 eps. I also ordered the last 26 eps. and Astro box 2. and a cheap but well reviewed Phillips region free dvd player. All should come next week just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Hi Ochanomizu, I'm sorry I forgot to say where I got it.

I couldn't find a big pic. of the Princess Knight box 2 that I got today, but I found a Taiwanese versoin of it, which uses the same box, just different writing.

Wow!, she looks hot in pink! Man, I've got a crush on her. Her husband's one lucky so and so.
Notice the official Tezuka seal. This is not a Chinese pirate. At least I hope not. Here's the link:

Here's some really cool dvd and vcd covers I found:

Go Baby, Go!, Kick there butts.

That's her boy friend Prince Franz. There just acting out a fight to fool people watching. He's really rescuing her. I read on the Tezuka site that he was played by the Tezuka character Rock.

Hi freinds!
I'm so excited. I just got my region free dvd player today, and I wathched the first 10 episodes of Princess Knight. :wahah: Wow! that's a great show. I was afraid I wouldn't understand it because of the Japanese audio only with no subs, but the beautiful animation and music carry most of the story, plus I know some Japanese words, so that helps. It's been fully restored so the picture is pure eye candy, the music is nice too. I love the jazz opening theme with a pumping upright bass, which is the instrament I play.
My favorite episode so far is no. 4, where Princess Saphire Knight and Prince Franz Charming(played by Rock)first meet on a ship. It's love at first site, but that creep Sir Nylon sees this too and Princess Knight knows this so she has to act real tomboyish to fool Nylon, but she's not fooling Prince Franz, he knows she's a girl and takes her by the hand to dance. There dance is awkward, but cute.
I wish I could show some pics of it, but my computer won't play region 2. Ohh well, back to the story.
Next Saphire breaks away from him and goes to sit down, thinking "what am I gonna do?,
I wanna dance with him, but Sir Nylon's watching." Then Prince Franz comes over to flurt with her. He beams a smile at her and batts his eyes. Man, he really wants her. So now she has to do something, so she chanlenges him to a sword sparr(not the pic above)and it's less awkward but still cute.
Don't worry, no one gets hurt. Meanwhile Tink, her gaurdian angel helps some rowing slaves escape and they mob the ship, so the Princess and Prince stop sparring and the Prince pushes the Princess out of the way so they won't mob her, thus saving her life. She gets this look on her face like "Ohh my God, he just saved my life."
The slaves are rounded up and ready to be excecuted, but the Prince and Princess have other plans. They team up and rescue the slaves. At the end of the episode you see The Prince and Princess saying goodbye or "Saionara" to the freed salves. Then they face each other and say some friendly parting words, smilling at each other and he tosses her a little flower, calling it a "presento". She beams a radiant smile as he departs and then she puts it between her teeth and rides off into the sunset.
This story made me feel good and like most it's self explainitory so you don't really need to understand the Japanese. However, another episode I watched, I was lost. What the hell is going on?
I'll try and descibe it. Ok, first there's this wierd menicing tower, with hangman's nuces on top and chess like statues inside. Princess Knight and the whole gang go inside to explore, but a lady accendentaly breaks a statue, angering Sir Nylon, and he srikes her, well Sapphire doesn't like this so she kicks his butt, later the same lady drops another one, but Tink who happens to be with her gets the blame.
So he's tied up and ready for execution. This angers Sapphire and she goes to the tower and breaks more statues in a rage. Now she's tied up and going to be taken to the tower along with Tink to be hanged. All this for breaking chess pieces? Anyway, she and Tink manage to get free and fight both some guards and then the devil Maphesto. She defeats them and and destroys the tower and laughs at sir Nylon and some fat dude, can't remember his name. She should have hit them for what they did.
I don't know why the King and Queen always seem powerless. Why can't the King or Queen say "Off with his head" or something.
I think I'll go to the Tezuka site and read the summery. That might help. I hope.

Hi friends, I just finished watching the entire series of Princess Knight in there original Japanese order. Ok, the series starts out light hearted and funny, but by the episode of her corination, she's exposed to the public that she's a girl. This did two things, first it liberated her in the long run, for she no longer had to pretend to be a boy, so she could be herself a tomboy
and pursue her relationship with her boy friend Prince Franz. Now the bad news, the series now gets really dark for a few episodes. She's sent to prison where she's beatin and whiped.
Then she has several assasionation attemps on her including one by the warden, but he falls down the stairs so Sapphire and her mother nurse him back to health. He then feels remorse and becomes their friend, then helps them escape and she rescues her father who'd been kidnapped while trying to change that stupid law about girls not being able to inhearate the thrown. All seems ok now, but there's more tradgedy for our heroine. In one episode she's blinded by some poison
but she gets her sight back later with the help of friends.
My least favorite episode is when her mother is dying and she's makes a deal with Venus(the goddess of love) who gives her mother back her life in exchange for Sapphire's beauty. Hmph!, where's the love? So now our poor heroine has to wear a mask, that's not to pretty either, and live in the shadows.
My heart sank at this point. I'm glad you never see her without the mask, I couldn't stand to see Sapphire with an ugly face.
Next Venus appears again and torments poor Sapphire again, and she can't take it anymore, she's breaks down and cries pleading. Then Venus tries to steal something else from Sapphire, maybe her nice body. Sapphire screams in pain
and I kept wishing for god to intervine, and he does
He tells off Venus and turns her into an ugly pig and then gives Sapphire back her beauty, she removes her mask and hugs Tink, her guardian angel, and cries
Awww! Glad that's over
I'll be skipping that one next time I watch the series.
Ok that's the worst of it. After the Venus episode it gets better again
Some weird and unexpected things start to happen now. An enamy worse and more powerful than the devil Mephesto shows up, The X empire, which are a futuristic bunch of Nazis complete with modern technology. Evil, but impressive. It's really cool to see Sapphire and Franz fight them side by side. One of my favorite scenes is in episode 51 when Sapphire dressed in her superhero disguise of Ribbon no Kishi, pronounced Ribbonokshi real fast, complete with an eye mask(think Zoro), rides out to meet with Prince Franz, but he's upset with her for wearing that disguise in front of him, because he knows Ribbon no Kishi and Princess Sapphire are one in the same. He tells her off, saying that if she won't be honest with him then "Saionara Sapphire". So she says "Franzu look." She removes the eye mask, and he lights up and says something like YES!, I was right. they dance and he gives her a flower
and then they set off together to fight the X empire.
Now to tie-in Princess Knight with Astro Boy.

Check it out, She's wearing Astro's boots.
She did this twice, Well both her and Astro are the children of Mitchy from Metropolis.

Tink makes an appearance in Hullabaloo Land, which is the story of the robot ammuzement park run by a gun smuggler and his monster bots. Tink helps Astro liberate the good robots from them.

:wahah: MAN!, she looks good in black.
Hi friends,
Princess Knight never wore this outfit in the 60's seiries and I've seen all 52 episodes. So I bet this is from the 80's Astro episode: The Time Machine. I still haven't recieved my Astro tin box yet, but I'm supposed to get vhs tape 8 in the mail soon, and maybe this episode is on it. So am I right, is this from The Time Machine?
Here's another pic from it.

I love her eyes. In this pic. they remind me of Livian's
Here's one of Livian to compare.

This is another reason why I think those pics. might be from the 80's Astro. The character design is so similar, very 80's.
Hey Fafner, I hope you don't mind but I used this pic. from your young Atlas story page. If you do mind, then I will remove it and I appologize.

No problem

If possible you can copy the image to an images server (after all the image does not "belong" to me), but this is in no way a requirement.
Duplicating my images on this forum will increase the traffic on my server in a negligible order. However if you link one of my images on another forum, it could be a problem, so in this case it would be better to copy it to an images server.

I will have a look, I'll come back with informations in a few hours. I still haven't watch anything of the tin box but I am just about to arrange that
