Astro Boy has always been unpopular here. Hell, Osamu Tezuka's work is far less popular here then it should be, period.

Also, the gangsta look is lame. I wear a trench coat.

For one that served under Dracula, you seem much too weak.

Thank you for the welcome, I am happy to be here and speak with all of you.
As you can tell, I'm a Unico fan. Unico in the Island of Magic was the first anime, first movie, and first thing I had ever watched, and it's remained my favorite movie all these years. It led to me becoming an anime fan, Astro Boy fan, and a fan of Tezuka's works in general.

I'm male, 20 years of age, with long black hair and a thing for capes, cloaks, and long coats. :p

I believe Astro Boy is weak here because of Tezuka's presence here being weak in the first place. Much of his work remains untranslated, thankfully much of it has been fansubbed, and I have never been lucky enough to actually find it on television. I saw Unico on VHS from the library as a child, and everything else I have downloaded from the internet. Toonami once mentioned the lack of love for Astro Boy in the States when they reviewed Omega Factor, but besides that I have never seen anything Tezuka related on television, and very, very little on store shelves. Considering Tezuka's role in anime, it's sadly ironic.

Welcome, I hope you have a great time here :)

I hate it when people don't like Astro boy, I wish it was as popular as Naruto.

If you want to experience Astroboy, try the manga & 1960s anime, which is available in two boxed sets from just about any online retailer. Amazon sells the manga & anime, & has a place for others to sell their copies also, which usually cost less than from Amazon itself.

BTW, welcome to the forums. We have some very knowledgable people here, so feel free to ask questions. :astro:

Well, I shouldn't have too many questions, but I do have a few. I've seen the entire 80's series, much of the b/w series, and a bit of the new series. I was delighted to find that Anapan hosts Marine Express, complete with English subbing. I searched to the end of the internet and could not find that movie! :d oh:

I have Don Dracula (which I believe was not on the file list, and I found the one torrent on earth at the end of the internet...), but the thing is that it doesn't have any subbing. It's all well and good trying to watch it as well as somebody who only knows English can, but... well, you know!

Obviously, I have both the Unico movies, and the pilot as well, and I have watched them more than any person probably should! I'd probably look for the manga stuff as well, but they're probably too hard to find and I couldn't read them anyway. :p

I also found Jungle Emperor Leo here (need I reiterate, finding Tezuka stuff isn't as easy as it should be. ). I thought the movie was released in English, but I found a copy with no subbing either. It's times like these I really wish I could learn Japanese, you know?

I have all the episodes of Black Jack TV, Black Jack 21, the 1996 movie, Two Doctors of Darkness, and a few other things including some of the stuff I'm getting here. So yeah, I've been more successful than not at finding all things Osamu Tezuka, and I'm thankful to all the people who keep this stuff circulating about the internets and sub it as well.

I should add one more thing. That 25k limit for avatars and signatures is hard to get under! I spent quite a while trying to get in that limit, but it payed off!

I had originally wanted this as my signature (since I use it on all the message boards that I can), but there's no way in hell I could get this under 25k!

IIRC, signatures have to be below 75K, not 25K like avatars... but then it's not like it will help with the image you would have wanted! ;)

I found the DVD at YesAsia, no English unfortunately. I tried to buy it but my credit card kept getting rejected. And I got charged a fee each time. :( So I ended up getting it from the same place as you. :)

I've found the matching sub file for Jungle Emperor Leo. I think it was on emule. I've uploaded it to Anapan's ftp.

I watched Space Firebird 2772 recently (Madman DVD). It was a bit surreal, but I was really sleepy and I'd had a few beers. :whistling:

Have you been getting the Black Jack fansubs from #Frothbite?

Why, yes! I guess that means it really is the only place with Black Jack stuff!
