Yes, he did XD
I was going to write a short piece, but I worried I might wanna use the material for my Bring on the Wonder fic (not for kids sorry lol).
But for this point in the film...honestly, I do not think Cora would accept Astro straight away (despite my 'serious' pics about that
). The Astro Boy comic states it's a week before the Robots Game happen, so that's a whole week to get to know somebody. Cora's this tough girl who's been brought up to dislike robots (Kristen Bell said so in an interview lol) considering the fact she's willing to threaten dismantling one and let them be chopped up in the Robots Games proves she doesn't care.
So when Astro, a friend confesses he's a robot, she probably wouldn't take him seriously (given the fact he doesn't look like a tin can) until she realised he wasn't joking, who knows, he might've shown her the core if she'd persisted. But then what? Duh, she'd hate him to pieces and go inside, not wanting to be anywhere near the robot freak. Maybe he'd think she gone to tell the others and gets the heck out of there in a state, believing he has lost his home again. But later the gang go to find him and he discovers she hasn't blurted his secret, perhaps not entirely certian if she should or if anyone would believe her. Plus he's sorta gotten on her good side and she hates that. But nevertheless, they're not on talking terms and it's a pain in the butt when you need to explain to somebody why your life's a lie but there's so many people around you can't.
This silent threatment carries on right up until the games, where Astro learns from to stone cold Cora what really goes on there, thus reconnecting where the films carries on...with the exception of Cora already knowing his secret.
Oh, I can't remember who said it but the Scorpion Brothers knew Astro was a robot from their devices on their diggers. Trashcan only knew originally from Astro shining lights in his eye in the comic and novel, but it's just implied in the film Astro is speaking the dog language. As for the RRF, their scene was supposed to take place after the Scorpion Brothers fight, so they would've seen what Astro did (instead for the movie, they might've of seen his conversation with the broken robots on the top of the scraphill or his interaction with Trashcan)
So, you might think it's some thing that only robots know robots, or Astro can be told apart from human by some, but that's not true. Orrin didn't know he was a robot until he x-rayed him (why does a servent robot have x-ray vision, finding keys down the plug hole?) and Hamegg only knew from using that energy device.
But is a wonder, how the heck didn't they know he was a robot? You get this kid appear with freakish perfect gelled hair (despite never seen putting any on) and wearing these red metal boots that he never takes off, even when he goes to bed. How dumb can people get?
