I think what Earthshine is trying to say is that talking to this person is like trying to talk to a brick wall. At least that's how I interpret it.

Yeah, no matter how much you try to patch things up it's all going fall to pieces eventually. So long as they are so hard headed and rooted in their beliefs they will never cease and will never see that what they are doing is detrimental to the fandom as a whole.

Well, I sure hope you can get through to this person. I for one, am getting sick and tired of seeing constant posts about how we're all being "duped" and that "Astro Boy is the kid friendly version" of the story. As if anyone on deviantart wants to hear him rant about this anymore.

No need for apologies. I think we're all tired of this. Our conversations usually go along the lines of us debating over the entire thing, I call them on how insane they sound, and then they apologize, a true heart-felt sounding apology free from their usual condescending insincere tone.

I think a better tactic for getting this person to LAY OFF the vandalism is to quite literally show them through numbers that no one agrees with their extremist viewpoints that border-line ethnocentrism. They may NEVER change their mind about their viewpoints, and that's something no one can change nor should try, but it is possible I believe to get them to stop talking about it so severely.

One person talking to them (me) isn't going to get them to stop. But if many different people do they might think twice about changing articles. So far on other sites that they lurk on people more or less ignore them so I don't think this person is entirely used to people telling them that what they are doing is not contributing anything to the fandom as a whole. Then again this all could be blamed for their possible autism.

A good number of us tried to get this fellow to not be so aggressive and negative, but it fell on deaf ears. We finally had no choice but to ban him. But then a number of our members actually followed him to a forum he created on his own!

So instead of accepting that his manner was too extreme, he began bad-mouthing this forum and me, in particular. It was (and still is) very painful for me (talk about cyber-bullying) - especially when I learned he was talking about me and ABO negatively on Tumblr.

I do wish Wikipedia would ban him. That would stop the destruction of the pages related to Astro Boy - but maybe that is against their policy?

It's not my wish to block him from his opinions, but to not state them as fact, and degrade people who might disagree with his viewpoints.
