I still think that a sort of "alter-ego" thing isn't impossible. Even if it probably is the completely cliche "evil twin" trope. Also, he was kind of already an evil twin, at least at first, in the 80's series; this is doubly true in the little manga story created to promote this series. He was created as a deliberate counter to Atom, whereas in the show itself, he was just a copy.

Caribara Animation just opened their new website up today. Included is a page for Astro Boy Reboot.

http://caribara-animation.com/en/project/caribara-production/

Nothing much that's new to discuss here, but the name of the city in ABR has again been confirmed to be "Divercity" (it was previously brought up in this Facebook post by Shibuya Productions through the Monaco Anime Game Show page). Not sure if that's supposed to be pronounced like "diver city" or the word "diversity", but we'll certainly figure that out eventually.

I also noticed that the production year is listed as "2015". I wonder if that means we'll be seeing it later this year. We can only hope I suppose.

A short description has been put up for the show as well:

Astro's everyday life and adventures in Divercity, within his human adopted family.

Not quite sure what "human adopted family" means, but I assume that means that we won't be seeing Astro's parents in ABR. Perhaps he has human parents and maybe even human siblings?

It's all another piece in the cryptic puzzle that is Astro Boy Reboot at this point in time.

Perhaps they could be bringing in Reno as an adopted brother similar to the 2003 anime? That would be interesting!

At the very least, I figure he has human parents. This is something I've been thinking for a long time now, ever since they let out that synopsis from a while back detailing how he want to learn to be a "real child" so that he can be loved. This would make sense, if he's a super-logical being with something to prove.

Well, clearly, he's going to be adopted by a human family. And !!!!!!! I am so excited to see how they handle this. I've long been intrigued by the concept of a humanoid robot growing up with a human family around them, and the idea of dealing with transhumanity and life spans.

That's closer to the story in the movie 'A.I. Artificial intelligence', and that didn't end well.

Oh my god I only saw part of the tail end of that on TV once but that is exactly what this sounds like

Well, considering that this is an action/comedy genre kids' show, it probably will have a happier outcome. His apparent shortcomings are probably something that he himself imagines, when the reality could be that his family loves him anyway. His family could even be a recent adjustment.

That's not to say that this probably won't break any hearts anytime soon, given the trends in recent popular children's series these days. Or so I've gathered (as I'm a bit daunted by the idea of trying to catch up to Gravity Falls or Steven Universe, especially as I may or may not even like them; second-hand embarrassment, wherever and whenever present, is also a major factor, and I do not pretend that a kids' show wouldn't have anything like that in it, as for whatever reason it is perfectly acceptable to have such uncomfortable content in it).

Well, who says nobody can try again anything that didn't work? If it didn't work one way, there's nothing saying it can't be tried another way. I'm just excited to see how this turns out in the show.

I didn't mean that the movie was a flop, rather that the plot was a bit depressing as things didn't go well for David, the robot in the story. Interesting thing though is that the back story for the plot is based on the Tetsuwan Atom manga. The original movie script was developed by Stanley Kubrick who was quite familiar with the work of Tezuka, and had even asked him to help develop the artwork for '2001 a space odyssey'.
