Yeah, his eyes are kinda. Beady... But, I'm sure I'll get used to it. Everything else seems to be fine so far; and whenever we get to see more, his behavior might make up for anything else. I know it does for Cobalt in the 1963 series. (That said, I still wish that he wasn't drawn so ugly for the vast majority of it... This case isn't nearly as bad, thankfully.)

omg thank you
this made me really happy for some reason; I must just be really tired
eep :3c
also, if done right, sassy Astro doesn't have to be a bad thing. although I'd prefer that role be delegated to someone else; I'd say Cobalt, if he ever showed up anymore...
also, given what we know of the planned story, that doesn't seem likely. I got the impression that things like sarcasm and sass would fly over his head, which is hilarious in and of itself
now if only they gave is a transparent version of that image. making one ourselves would be too hard, given the nature of some of the elements of the image.
His hair is shiny now. and good lord, lookit them nubs. those are some seriously truncated fingers he's got going on there...
Actually, there's plenty of minor differences here, the more I look... his head, or at least, his jaw, isn't as round as it was. His irises are larger, and rounder in shape. His pants aren't as poofy as the jpg made them look...
This is probably promotional art. I'm not sure how well this new image reflects the finished product, even if it's different from what we've already seen.

Tezuka drew Atom with short fingers at times, depending on the pose. He also often drew hands and feet as 'mittens' as well.

I wouldn't mind a sassy Atom either, it may be a refreshing change of pace from what we are accustomed to seeing if it goes that way. However what I don't want to see is an egotistical and obnoxious Atom, and unfortunately if the writing is poor it is very very easy to slip into these kinds of personality traits when a character is supposed to be "sassy".
As for the art style I'm not bothered by it, I like how he is more proportionate in this style (his longer legs and leaner build). However his massive forearms still read as distinctly "Astro Boy" so he has elements in design from Tezuka still.
Although I do remember reading that Tezuka tried drawing Atom with a similar build and his series lost popularity as a result so he stopped doing that and continued to draw him the way he always did.
I'm not sure how I feel about the green eyes though, green eyes and black hair on a robot always takes me back to Rockman (but this is just me an my own associations).

if he just likes to crack jokes a lot, I can totally get behind that XD
I actually kinda like how he's drawn as well. Not my favorite style but like we've discussed before, there have been worse. Far worse.
sounds like My Life as a Teenage Robot to me. Now I'm REALLY interested

"Little Brown Fox" wrote:Well he is a robot. And from what we know with this, they are putting heavy emphasis on that; a robot trying to be human and getting massively trolled in the process...
