That almost never happens with special edition boxsets over here, especially with series that aren't popular or very well known. Even the popular series don't get a lot of such things here.

Heck, reprints alone are a rarity.

With anime you can simply dub it (though sometimes the dubbing itself isn't that good), but with manga you can't 'cause its written. A complete re-print is needed, so its understandable that some companies aren't willing enough to do it.

But this isn't the case here since the English version ALREADY exists. A pity.

Anime can ALSO go out of print.

Reprinting is simply issuing a re-release so that it will be more available, and does not require re-writing or re-dubbing. Viz once did reprints of Phoenix: Dawn and Phoenix Volume 7, which were exactly the same as previous releases, but simply available for purchase again.

Hi, Jeffbert! I am glad you have received your copies. As you may note since these are in the original form in which they were first printed, they will be much different than the DH series as those were reprints and were obviously revised and changed in the reprinting. Unlike American reprints where publications are mostly reprinted in the exact same form as originally printed, Tezuka wanted his work to look its best and therefore could not resist revising and removing panels, as well as trying to improve on panels where he felt he may have been rushed and was not his best work.

May I make a suggestion. Since you do not speak or read Japanese as you have stated before, why not take on a colloborator who is fluent in Japanese. Or now is the time to take a course. It is not as hard as it might seem. I took a cursory course in Japanese and while I am not proficient it has helped me in appreciating the work.

Here is an example. While checking out the synopses of Atom manga on the Tezuka Osamu World website I noticed that the original title of "Day to Remember" had been removed. When I purchased a Japanese collection of Atom manga, titled "TetsuWan Atomu Original" it featured Atom stories from Showa 28 to Showa 38. (That is 1953 to 1963.) As this book was published by Kobunsha, these were the original Atom stories as they were originally published. And here was featured "A Day to Remember" under its orignal title, "Robotto Nagashi"! Now the original title as translated in TOW website was "Robot Sink". But this was a misnomer. While "nagashi" is usually translated as "sink", the translator had failed to take into account what the story was about and that was the "Toro Nagashi". The Bon Festival. Therefore the original title of "A Day to Remember" should have been translated as "Robot Bon Festival"! You will find lots of interesting trivia (I think) like this once you learn the language. Any way that is my advice. So please keep telling us about how amazing it is to see Tezuka's "TetsuWan Atomu" in its orignal form.
