o.k., 13 not 14. But compared to his earlier versions, all of which placed him in elementary school, he should certainly have had better judgment that that.

No, I just disagree with you. :p I think there is a difference between being able to do calculus and having common sense. As a robot, he should be able to compute mathematical answers with no sweat, but probably the only way to get "common sense" is through experience with consequences and having those recorded. Of course, I have yet to see the CGI film, so perhaps my words have little relevance. ;)

But here I am talking about the boy.

 why did they even make Astro older? in the 03 series in the other series and in the manga he looked to be about 10.

Apparently it's because they wanted people of the older generation to relate to Astro more, so they made him older. It's probably also because they thought that he wouldn't be taken seriously as a 'super hero' if he was younger.

I think some producers requested it, I could be wrong but they wanted him older for the reason you stated. But I believe that it wasn't David Bowers or Imagi's decision to make him older.

I'm really curious on how the movie would have turned out if the original director stayed to finish it, instead of David Bowers directing it.

Depends on how faithful the original director wanted it to be. If the film was more faithful, it would probably be a lot better.

I looked at your posts again, but found none that I wanted to comment upon.

EDIT: Oh, I found it:
"Shirubie" wrote:2003 Astro had a few flashbacks and didn't know what they were. When he was reactivated he had no memories at all, didn't even know his name and had to relearn everything.

True, but in a series of cues that cause flashbacks, he eventually recovers memories that Ochanomizu had hoped to have wiped clean.

Though I think others already covered this.

who here like the idea of Astro having the memories of Tobio? or being true the manga that Tenma build Astro to look like Tobio but Hoshie teaching Astro how to be Tobio?

I haven't read the manga yet, but I would prefer that Astro be a "clean slate", because transferring memories from a biochemical mechanism into a robotic mechanism doesn't make sense, in my mind anyway. But I confess that that story trope offers interesting ideas.

according to the orginal manga Tenma left Hoshie to teach Astro how to be Tobio
in the 03 series didn't say nor did it say that he was taught or given Tobio's memories
