What would you do if you were Astro boy?

I would campaign for peace and tolerance for everyone, I would campaign for people to think more open-mindedly, I would make waves and surf them, I would convince people to not be greedy or be jerks. You can't convince people to change their horrible ways by simply beating them up or through intimidation (though sometimes it may curb behavior), sure it makes you feel good and justified but only causes problems later on.

I think it would be a living hell to be a super hero, because you could never even stop long enough to catch your breath, lest even 1 person died because of your laziness. How could Superman say he was only concerned with people in Metropolis, without being labeled a snob, a jerk, etc. All the people who would be angry because he did not save their loved ones, would be in his face accusing him of indifference.

Assuming our super hero is the least bit conscientious, he would soon work himself to death. How could he rest, knowing someone somewhere needs his help, every minute of every day? Superman would need to defeat Luthor, Atom to plug a volcano, & SUPERCHICKEN, save a little boy from a spanking.

Neither Atom nor the PPGs have secret identities, they would need new identities & to refrain from super hero activities just to have some peace & quiet. Retaining their public IDs would be foolish, but their helpful nature would soon betray them.

Jeffbert, you just popped a lot of 'balloons' there. You're absolutely right in your analysis of course, but most people would be envious of a super hero and never think of the 'down side' to being so 'gifted'. Would Kal-El have thought he was cursed by his abilities? Maybe, he certainly would have felt like Atlas (the mythical one) having the weight of the world on his shoulders.

Astro is a bit different, being a nine year old boy at heart. (Besides 'the boy wonder' how many super-heros were teenagers or younger?). For that mater, how would it feel to HAVE a super hero as a friend, especially a child having a child super hero as a friend. Do Astro's friends even think of him that way? Would be an interesting idea to develop a story from Tamao or Kenichi's POV about their relationship with Atom as a friend and school mate.

I'd honestly probably just fly to all the places I've wanted to go and shoot a bunch of stuff with all my cool new weapons! Then I'd remember I'm actually supposed to be saving people. So I'd do that instead.

Another thing I would do if I were Astro. Save animals. I love animals and I am interested in saving lives of them. I remember when my brother and I found a duck egg about a year ago in a nearby lake where we used to live at. We carefully picked it up with a cloth and tried our best not to touch it cause then, the owner would smell it and leave it behind when they find out that humans have touched it. Actually, I really wanted to see it hatch and then we could raise it. (Cause we found it all alone, guessing that someone else has had already touched it with their bare hands.) Though unfortnately, we couldn't cause we weren't allowed to own pets there so we placed the egg back where we found it.

It was sad cause I was thinking of when it will hatch, it will be all alone on its own. I wonder what happend to it? I've never seen it after that cause I stayed inside for the rest of the summer. (And also, a couple months after that, my brother started a fight with his girlfriend and we got kicked out, so we had to move.)

A duck had made its nest just outside our kitchen window, we watched it as Spring progressed. Then one day, noted the eggs destroyed. Apparently, a cat had gotten them. :d evil: It was somewhat sad that we were denied seeing ducklings, etc., but nature took its course.

A family of gray foxes made its home under our shed when we lived in the country. A foolish mother rabbit made her nest in the garden of the same place, but our G retriever found it and killed all the bunnies, as my young nieces watched.
