When I woke up, I thought that would make an awesome Street Fighter 2 style game with each robot using special powers with the right button comination. Like this:
Bruton - Electric horns, electric hand grab, whirlwind fist attack.
Bora - Sonic weapon, fireballs, tail whip.
Xeron - Dig under the ground and come up below the other player, laser array.
Hercules - Flying fists, magnetic field, lance attack.
Molnar - All kinds of special arm attachments.
Photar - Solar blast, speed strike.
Mt Blanc - Axe attack, throw.
Astroboy - Finger lasers, rear machine guns, arm cannon.
Brondo - Spinning attack, wrestling slam.
I wonder if there's enough content in the episodes to make a pack of characters for Mugen...
Probably someone would have to make the sprites from scratch or there would be perspective and outline width issues.
I wonder if the sprites in the GBA game would fit...? Are any of those characters bosses in the game?
Mugen is an open source freeware fighting game engine and creation tool. It's pretty easy to use, and there have been quite a few full games and countless fighting game characters made with it. You can download individual characters and have them fight against each other.
Even if only astroboy was a playable character in Mugen it could be pretty fun - especially if the Gameboy Advance Astroboy was used since most of the opponents would be like 10 times his size

Edit:
Looks like someone already got Astroboy done
Scroll to just past halfway:
Astroboy for Mugen
And the website to download him:

Under Hosted Creations -> Hosted Characters
And some info (translated from brazillian)
Author Info
Aparently that's not the first guy who converted him to a mugen character so there's another Astroboy for Mugen somewhere. I haven't found it yet tho.
Now we just need to find/create some Astroboy related opponents.
I can rip sprites from any videogame easily, but I don't have any experience working with Mugen. I think we could get one of the guys on one of the various mugen message boards to help out tho.
