It is Madman, not Madmax, not the same thing

And I am afraid there will be only English dub, no Japanese version with English subtitles

Who thinks it's odd that Atlas was not one of the Greatest Robots?
Maybe because he is difficult to find... He is the one who contact you, not the contrary you see

More seriously, I think all the contestants beside Pluto were "good" aligned, Pluto's master wanted to eliminate them in the process. So Atlas, being "evil" aligned, didn't meet the requirements

Seems like we will be getting the Japanese 80s ep 1 & 2!! From the Madman Astro forum board:
And then
<!--QuoteBegin--Madman
We've actually realised the missing episode 2 so we will most likely put it in with episode 1 to make it more complete.

*keeps fingers crossed*

Having episode 1 on there is great, but that only tells half the story of what was cut from the first dub episode. We won't get to see the big fight with young Atlas that was in the second Japanese episode.

First of all, I must say I'm quite happy to find out that Astroboy will be released soon on such a nice DVD set.
Regarding the extras, I really hope, like apparently, other members of this forum, that this set will include the french dub, i.e. the version I heard when I was young. Astroboy, or "Astro, le petit robot" in french, is a very appreciated anime in France and I'm sure this DVD will be a bigger seller if it's also in french. I just hope that somebody will read this topic and take our reactions into account.
I congratulate you for your site, certainly the most complete about astroboy on the web.

I still haven't given up hope of including these french versions in the DVD box.

PS can anyone put names to the US actors for the characters?
The voice of Astroboy was done by Patricia Kugler Whitely, who is an actor at the Madison Theatre Guild in Wisconsin. She appeared in the movie Red Betsy last year.
I don't know who the other characters are voiced by, but most of the cast are still living in Madison, Wisconsin where the dub was done at the University there.
Richard Ganoung (voice actor) has appeared in a few Hollywood movies, but the only one I've seen is Billy's Hollywood Screen Kiss. His voice acting is too good for me to tell which voices he played in Astroboy.
Del Lewis (voice actor and director) continues to work in acting and directing. I think he lives in Boston now.
Carl Battaglia (the other producer/director) lectures in writing studies at the University of Wisconsin.
Jay Rath (voice actor) still lives in Wisconsin and is a freelance writer. He's written several books on supernatural phenomena.
Greg Zerkle (voice actor) has guest starred in countless big-name US TV series.
The translation was written and co-ordinated by Kenji Kitatani, who is now a big executive with Sony Corporation. I think he handled a lot of the Japan-US liasing.
Madman have indicated they may want my help tracking these people down. I have a few e-mail addresses and phone numbers, but so far Madman haven't asked for any more details. It would be great to have a voice-actor commentary or even some kind of video postcard, but I suspect it's not likely this late in the DVD development.
