Thankyou... It's not hard to guess my favorite character.
I loved Niki ever since I watched the video in 90-something and the episode was like the 4th episode in that crazy mixed up order so I remembered it the whole way through... I would like to know though... Why could he fly after they gave him her feet? wouldn't their feet be one of the bits that aren't compatible with astro seeing as he could fly and she (as far as we know) couldn't.

Or maybe she could fly and she just didn't know she could... Or maybe she just liked having Astro carry her so she didn't tell him?

I assumed that Elefun gave Astro every piece of Nikki's legs he could, especially the envelope, but that he would also put Astro's jets in so that he could still fly. Obviously that's still a big difference but for the most part, his legs were still Nikki's.

That was the last episode in the series, despite the English-language version's order of episodes. Thus, there was no need to answer this question.

Well actually, after he puts them on he flies away into the distance so it would need to be addressed.

Indeed.

I suddenly have this image of him blinking, ask us to not tell his secret to anyone, taking off and realized that he's suddenly unable to fly...

That would have made an interesting ending for the French episodes! :p (For those who do not know, this sequence was put at the end of every French episode, but they had Astro say something to close a little game they had made up.)

it's weak maybe because the people bringing the anime to America's shore are just plainly catering to what people WANT and not what they actually NEED.

and what they want: too much violence, too much sex, too much beautiful animation but crappola story... basically what they see in other tv shows and the environment they wallow in.

and what they need: a major push by the media industry for a show with good values and a sense of morality like astroboy have. this is what the youth needs. not just in america but in the entire world.

Sort of wanting sweets but needing vegetables :D I suppose it is the idea ;)
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Astro isn't that weak here in the States; in fact it may have inspired some American animators (just look at "The Powerpuff Girls" - Buttercup's hairstyle is kinda reminiscent of Uran's).
