Right before the explosion, the background stops moving, giving the impression that the coaster has stopped, but Astro's jets are still working.

I finally received my Madman DVDs. Right after the title "The Greatest Robot in the World (Part II)", there is one frame with Japanese text. It can't be seen at normal speed because it's in only one image. Why? Is it because the Japanese titles appeared over the action, or is it something else? Anyone knows?

Also Bruton seems to have a few sync problems, especially in the beach scene with Astro and Brondo. I know the dubbing isn't 100% perfect, which I can understand, but he seems to be the only character with that problem in that scene.

You've got a good eye. B)
The Japanese title screen looked like this:

It didn't actually go over the action, but often when animation is transferred between countries the change in frame rate can cause a slight shadow across frames.

So we see this:

It also happens after the titles in The Robot Vikings, The Time Machine, The Monster of Clarken, The Genie From Outer Space, and The Robots Nobody Wanted.
I can't see it on the VHS release though, only the DVDs (Madman re-did the titles to get a sharper font).

 No, I just happen to have a new and very counter-intuitive remote control! That's the only advantage I found to it so far! :P

Just above the "play" button, there are the << and >> buttons, but these aren't the rewind/fast-forward buttons: they move to another chapter/title! The rwd/ffw buttons are above those, on each side of the "OK" button. I'm used to the opposite, so I keep messing up. I don't know how, but I ended up pausing on that frame for a brief second, just long enough to see some Japanese and ask myself "Wait, what's this?!?" Then I had to go frame by frame to find it again, because I can't see it otherwise. But it was easier to see than in the second pic you just posted.

Oh thanks, I noticed the font looked different, but I thought it might have been because I had forgotten how they looked on a TV screen. Did you just check because I asked or had you already noticed that? If you had seen it and it wasn't by mistake, *you* are the one with the good eye! ;)

Thanks a lot for the explanation! :)

When I made the Astroboy true-type font, I originally planned to make a second font like in the credits and title screens. It has distinctive R's and W's.
When I saw the Madman DVDs, I noticed the font was slightly different.
The layout is different too. My favourite episode was The Runaway Subway Train and in the original they wrote the whole thing on one line. Madman split the line so the font wasn't so small.

Thanks for the font BTW.

Did anybody else ever worry about the passengers in the carriages at the end of the train?

I slowed down the animation at the point of interest, but I found it at normal speed.
