I just finished an interview of Fred Ladd in the 1965-01 issue. Sadly, there was not much to it. He did mention that moms were present to watch with their kids, and had a positive feeling about the one with baby elephant Pura.

Here is the splash page of Part Two of the manga adaptation of "The Moon Monsters!/Earth Defense Squadron!" episode from the April, 1965 issue of "TetsuWan Atomu Club" magazine. Note Atom is drawn with a weapon in his hands; something that does not happen in the story.

I just ordered 5 of the 6 issues that I lack. Soon to see if they are really available!

I now lack only the very 1st issue. As such, I have the entire story. I will attempt to translate this whole story starting tomorrow!

Great! Now can you give us details about the story of the girl robot, "Elina" and who is that man with the crazy beard?-Astrobuddy

The man is Dr. Garon; Erina is his robot that he sent out to defeat other robots. Sadly, using google and MS translators for dialog leaves much to be desired. The item that Atom gives to the Dr. was inside Elina, & she removed it after her fight with Atom, & asked him to give it to her papa. 30 seconds later, she exploded.

Hi, Jeffbert! I forgot to ask you if you know what that rectangular device that Astro Boy gives to Dr. Garon is? I know it came from Elina, but what is it? What is it for?--Astrobuddy

Without looking, I would say it is her electrobrain. She removed it from her chest panel.
