Come on people. Let's be honest here. Could there be some deeper metaphor?

I agree, there is no way that it's this hips, if it was they'd be shooting to the side rather than straight down.

Yeah I was wondering where I'd read that before. I have an Astroboy action figure that says on the back of the pack:
Machine-Gun. It is telescopic and usually hidden in the hips.
But I'll have to go with the manga on this one.
