Unfortunatly I don't know if they have a .smi file but I can check and see but I think there sub-titling is done by the Fansubbers.

I'm more interested in a fansub of the 60s series. I mean, the current series is getting an official translation this year anyway.

I haven't even seen the 60s version at all, so anything that I'm able to get is good enough. I was happy to have the first 8 episodes (unsubed) of the jp version of the latest series.

I have started account with this irc, but cannot find any
#TV-NIHON. OK, I am new to this type of thing, but I must ask, are the episodes still available? I will continue messing with this irc thing, but do not really know where to begin.

Bit Torrent is the way to go Jeff. IRC, while better, takes a lot of learning. Plus you can just get them from here.
http://shinobichange.com/I'll seed it for the rest of the day.

I have downloaded and executed the bit torrent stuff, but now there is no executable file. Furthermore, clicking the Astroboy episode makes my firewall alert me that the program wants server rights. I am advised against giving it those rights.
