When are the new episodes coming down under?
I just cannot wait, now the DVDs are available and the TV stations have not aired a single episode yet.
Please tell me when they will get here.

I only have guesses at the moment. It should be shown on Cheez TV / The Big Cheez on channel 10. It will probably start some time after Jan 17th, as that's when it starts in the USA. I expect it will be a couple of months later as it will probably be shown on cable TV first. And I'm guessing it will be shown on Saturdays since it's a new series with not many episodes.

A few possibilities in order of likelyhood:

Saturdays 6:30am, starting April 3rd. This is when Jimmy Neutron finishes.

Saturdays 7:00am, starting Feb 14th. This is when Transfromers Armada finishes.

Weekdays 7:00am, starting March 23rd. This is when Pokemon finishes.

Weekdays 7:30am, starting Jan 26th. This is when Roboroach finishes.

Weekdays 8:00am, starting Jan 19th. This is when TMNT finishes.

Of course, the Channel 10 programming is notorious for changing things around without notice. For example, Zoids on Saturdays at 6:00am is due to run until 2005 with all the episodes they have, but they'll probably switch it to weekdays after one of the weekdays cartoons end. Frustrating, I know.

I'll post here as soon as I know for sure, otherwise you can only watch for the dates and times above.

Cartoon Central Australia is usually fairly up to date on what's happening.

You might be able to catch a special preview of the new Atom series around the beginning of March if we can get permission (Sydney Uni anime club that is). In any case we are sending a letter to channel 10 to see if we can find anything out about when they plan to show it. So i'll be sure to keep you guys up to date with any info i get ^_^

In the meantime we have summer screenings at usyd if you're out that way Thursdays at lunch - http://www.suanime.org

WHy are you assuming that Astro will be shown on Channel 10? THere are 4 other stations in Free-to-air (commercial) TV here.. The first two Astro Series were actually shown on Aunty.

Also, SBS seems to be the ONLY network in australia that shows Cartoons at times Normal People can watch them.

I would MUCH prefer ANY station than 10 get shows that I like Cartoonwize, as they invariably get edited due to having to put those annoying as hell 'hosts' on between cartoons etc.

If I had the money I would cave Cable TV and never watch 'free-to-air' TV again. I find their treatment of the public (ie their money) insulting.
three and a half years.. for what?

Er.... because there has been word that channel 10 have the rights.... besides Cheez TV get all the anime shows for kids these days DragonBallZ, Cardcaptors, etc. Yes all the butchered dubbs T__T Oh and cable/satellite TV is fine... i just wish that stuff would get shown on there before free-to-air (eg Atom)

Anyway i have a little update....nothing much but i should be able to get more news Tuesday (and yes this is news direct from the channel). Apparently Cheez TV have the rights to show the new series however they have not yet signed off on the deal. I gather the time delay will be the usual.... something gets run in the US for a few months then Australia gets it ¬_¬

Either way everyone will have to wait a couple of months to see Atom here, be it SUAnime screening or Cheez TV :(

Cartoon Central Australia reports that Cheez TV will be showing it, and they get newsletter updates from them. No other channel shows anime anymore.
It's all driven by merchandising these days. ABC doesn't show this kind of material anymore, probably due to the budget cuts from years ago. Channels 7 and 9 tend not to show anime (7 have shown a small number over the years; Battletech, Sailor Moon, Samurai Pizza Cats, but it's a rarity). SBS definately won't be showing a kids' cartoon, it's not in their demographics.

I agree though, channel 10 has a bad habit of butchering cartoons. They cut out enough of DBZ to make it rated G, and they still don't show all of The Simpsons.

By the way, "free-to-air" TV is free. It's paid for by advertising. Except for ABC which is 9.5 cents a day if you're paying tax. Personally I don't watch enough TV to justify paying for cable.

Having 2 kids in the house & a husband who LURVES his documentaries I am fortunate enough to have cable TV (+ its the only place i get to watch JAG at the moment ;) :P ) But I am hoping that it will soon pick up on the series. Fox8 is soon to start showing Sailor Moon & another anime(can't recall the name) in FEb as well as Cartoon Network going Crazeee over Yu-Gi-Oh as well as the other anime like Pokemon & such they might put us out of our misery soon (GET THE HINT CARTOON NETWORK!!!!! ;) I hope they show a better calabre of The new series than the butchered version that evry1 says has turned our sweet cheeked hero into a punk. heres hoping

Chances are as always everyone gets the same English dub :( I'm just hanging out for dual language DVDs, or if impossible then more TV-Nihon subs.
