It is a childish, perhaps child-like thing to believe that other creatures, including machines that resemble humans have human emotions, intelligence, families, etc. Kids think that bunnies, squirells, birds, etc have homes, that while very different from human homes, still have the same things inside them. Bugs Bunny always has a fully-furnished hole, I have never seen Porky Pig in any but a human role. Although Daffy Duck is always a Duck, Bugs, is always a Wascally wabbit, etc. they are always endowed with human characteristics. Perhaps this in part explains the animal-rights movement. These people while children were convinced that animals were just like people. I remember one kid on a Sunday school bus route, who, upon realizing that hamburgers were made from cattle, decided to become a vegitarian. She insisted that it was not nice to eat animals.

Regarding robots, kids may understand that animated cartoons are just pictures, but the messages they convey still affect them. The character that the child understands is a machine is no different from the one he understands is an animal. They all act as humans, so, the distinction means little. The best propaganda does not come out and say, "This and that are true", but uses stories and songs to subtly although slowly change people's opinions. An entire childhood spent in front of the TV can definitely influence the person's views. ;)

The idea of a real Astroboy actually seems kinda freaky, but either way, I personally can't wait until it actually happens.

Here's another one. 12.) You race radio control cars and your screen name is Astro Racer. That is the name I use on the racing message board.
