Well after watching the dub all i can say is..... my ears owie my ears! :angry: those voices are so bad At least Cartoon Network don't shove 50 billion ads in, and their ad breaks actually match where the Japanese put their ad breaks.

OK well my thoughts on the show. Firstly yeah the voices are terrible I could live with everyone else's but Astro's is sooo bad i will like screaming when i hear it ^^; I mean compare it to the 60's and 80's series that showed.... it sounds so out of place <_<

There is also heaps of line changing and adding in lines......like Dr O'Shay talking to his ghost assistant all the time The changing of lines is so obvious and weird in relation to the animation, like when Atom says to the energy core not to hurt anyone anymore because its bad in a soft voice with that pleading face. Instead Astro demands he stop or he'll be sorry in a rough voice... it doesn't match his face at all ^^;

The cuts are kinda annoying and pointless... i really dislike removing that stuff just so we don't see Atom as childlike and his growth from being like a child and learning new things. Instead he sounds like a rebellious teenager and acts like a kid punk.

One thing that really kills the show is the music. In the original it is up-lifting and stands out...the dubbed Astro has such a crummy opening theme and most..... no all of of the music doesn't really stand out at all as anything special or contribute anything to the show.

As for the competition, i looked in the rules page and it says you have to be under 18 <_< So i used my younger brothers details You can win an Astro pack consisting of: 1 Astro Boy plush toy (valued at A$15), 1 Astro Boy plush keyring (valued at A $10), 1 Astro Boy singlet (valued at A $20) and 1 Astro Boy sticker sheet (valued at A $1). I didn't like Astro's voice mself, but it's actually kinda grown on me.

:huh: I have stated in other threads here that I have been a fan and watching since I was a boy in the 60's. I have mentioned that even in the 80's series that Astro had been toned down a lot. Not just the dubbing. He far more "Politically Correct" than he was back then. I am not surprised at all in how they have dubbed it in. There was a lot more violence also. Not that that is a good thing. I'm just pointing out the differences I have noticed.

Perhaps the editors felt that an Atom with Buddhist values of first attempting to reason with the antagonist, and only fighting when that has failed, would not be accepted by Western children, particularly boys.

I found it rather amusing that Cartoon Network use a little strain from True Blue for the music in their intro/outro of ads segment It's nice to know they did some research on the original Japanese version ^_^

Argh i didn't know they only give the code location for teh competition out at the 5:35 screening. From their website i was under the impression it was for the 9:35pm one too and i missed the earlier one cause of Uni >_<

Did anyone get today's code word and can tell me? T___T I'm so annoyed... i'll have to set the VCR everyday now <_<
