I found this interesting:

Mari Shimizu did Astro's voice for the Japanese version in 1963 and 1980, plus the two obscure Astroboy movies that were never translated (Shinsen-gumi and The Brave In Space) . She also did the voice of Jetter Mars!

That IS interesting..I wonder how much voice actors/actresses get paid.
She must feel very proud for being Astros voice. At least I would..

Thats pretty cool that the 60's and 80's version was done by the same person. I wish it was like that for the 80's/2003 dubbed versions. His new voice is just terrible...

I have. He sounds like he should in the japanese version, which is very similar to all the earlier incarnations.

Oh, thats good. I figured Tezuka Productions did it right, since they created astro.
Why do females seem to voice males in some anime? I heard it has to do with woman power and rights. I just think for boys its easier to use females to make them cuter sounding..but Goku from Dragonball Z is a different story.

I think they use women voice actors for boys because the pitch is a closer match before the boys' voice breaks during puberty.
