Lol, yeah I'll probably get used to Zoran in time, but for now I can't help thinking of Zorro.

personaly i liek the new zoran name, i saw the new series before the older movies and everytime i think or the old name (uran) it make me think of urine or uranus.

Think about that radioactive element, after which Atomu's kid sister is named: Uranium. I myself thought 'Uran' was a strange name, & cannot understand why the Japanese version of Uranium is actually shorter than the Engrish [sic] word. I have been studying Japanese, and have noted its tendency to add vowels to non-Japanese words.

atom becomes atomu
San Francisco becomes San Furan...

It seems that there are no consonants adjacent to other consonants, unless they constitute one phenome. There are few cases of syllables ending in consonants. 'n' is the sole exception. It alone is a free-standing consonant. All others are grouped with vowels. Thus, uranu is often pronounced as uran. Also, it seems that in words endind in 'u' the 'u' is often silent. desu means "there is" or 'exists', and its 'u' is silent.

I choose to call the little girl robot by the proper English word, Uranium because it has a clear meaning to English speakers, just as Atom has meaning that Atomu lacks.

jeffbert, you have pointed and explained things I had noticed in Japanese episodes I have seen, quite interesting ;)
I think I will hire you as a Japanese professor, learning Japanese by just watching Astro's episodes (not always subtitled) seems quite difficult :D
