I knew that Tezuka borrowed from Western literature, and it may be sheer coincidence, but as I was reading a text for my Myth & Culture class, I saw where Carl Jung recalled a dream about a beautiful white bird that could transform into little girl. Not only that, but he stated a restriction: "'Only in the first hours of the of the night, can I transform myself into a human being'" (Jung, 482). I immediately thought of Princess Odette and Robotland, since someone else had just mentioned them in another thread.
