if the Japanese start goin all out on building Robots will sony have first crack with building Astro?

There's the Atom Project - an attempt to build a robot similar to Astroboy. So far the researchers proposing the idea are from a variety of companies. No mention of Sony.

They think it will need US$12.7 billion and take 30 years to complete. :wacko: I wouldn't rule Sony out if it gets underway, they have a huge electronics division.

I wonder how they gonna place his artificial skin on him. This may be a difficult task.

Pffff! Dr Boynton (is it really his name? I'm not sure) did it in less than 30 seconds in the 80s

Well if it had taken only 30 secs in the 80's, they should be a lot faster now.

According to the Astroboy manga #1, the artificial skin was invented around 1982 by Professor James Dalton. But considering the ultra minature nuclear computer was supposed to have been invented in 1974, I'm guessing these dates are a little flexible!

By the way, the project isn't to build an ultra-powerful robot. Just one that is more human-like.
