I finally broke down & bought this from eBay. I was just tired of watching the raw Japanese, & had no enthusiasm about the few dubbed episodes released by WB.

I was going to buy from discountanimedvd.com, but did not want to create another account with another vendor with another user name, password, & needing to fill out all that info. So, already having an eBay account, I bought from a seller there.

So, anyway I found some defects in the links (what else would I call these?) On the first disc, if I try to NEXT CHAPTER past the opening credits, no matter which episode should be on, the thing goes back to the first episode. ;) On discs 2 & 3, after the opening credits, the thing went & played the very episode that had just been on (the one that just finished). I need to try it with a different DVD drive or application, to see if this is just a quirk that acts up with Power DVD. I could not even get it to play Starblazers 1 disc 3. It crashed every time, but no problem using ATI DVD player. So, I am wondering if it could be a problem that occurs only with this combination of discs & player.

Other than that, the hubs would not lock on the discs after a few times.

But being able to see & understand (within the limits of the poor subtitles) was well worth it. Still, if they ever release an official version that is not the lousy butchered KWB piece of trash, I suppose I will get that too. :D

I, too noticed the switch to Chinese subtitles. It occurred in the 16th chapter of set #2 disc 1   . I also enjoyed the adventures of Uranium, & just finished watching the deep sea treasure hunt. Can hardly wait to see the time travel ep! I watched all 50, but in Japanese without subtitles.

Wow! I envy you people
I was able to watch all 50 episodes in both english, tagalog and japanese (subtitled in english) but I really wish I could own DVD's of the whole Astro 2003 series. Well, I own two DVD's containing 8 episodes but the subtitle sucks!!
It's wrong grammar and wrong spelling!!

The quality is likely to be identical. The subtitles I have also suck, and I had bought eps 1-4 on a DVD last year, but the subtitles are identical, & quite poor. Actually very funny on one occasion.
Check the frames on this link: Funny subtitles in new series

There is also one occasion wherein Dr. Elephun said a bad word! It's in the episode 4 Astro vs. Atlas wherein Astro asked Dr. Elephun who Tobio is and suprisingly, the Dr. said s***!! Well you can't get much from pirated versions of the set.

 You think that's bad?
Wait till you saw the pirated 80's DVDs. The subtitles of them are as evil as hell!
I almost understood the spoken japanese better than the subs.
:D

Atomu himself often says "damn you", & use of the S-word (which BTW, comes from 'schism' severed, separated), is frequent in both the 2003 & 80s.

I had a book called "The Roots of English", which had origins of all the naughty words. :D

Really! Why do these people like to tweak the subtitles in an evil way and can't really understand what good will it do to them.
