Robots are considered a danger and put to jail. Blue Knight decides to set them free and construct with them Robotania, a free land for robots. Some people are not exactly pleased with the idea and manage to have an army with heavy weaponry attack Robotania. The attack ultimately fail, but not before a very destructive missile is launched. Astro manages to modify its trajectory, but is "killed" in the explosion. In the last 2 episodes, Astro is rebuilt by Dr. Tenma, albeit without his memories. I am not exactly sure about that, but I think after that Astro believes to be Tobyo, Dr. Tenma's son. He does not recognize anymore Dr. O'Shay nor his sister Uran. Nevertheless, Astro manages to recover his memory and escapes Dr. Tenma, who launches a full scale attack on the building of the Ministry of Science with an army of his panther robots. Things become apocalyptic, until Dr. Tenma and Astro meet in the basement of the building. Dr. Tenma threatens to detonate bombs that will destroy the entire building. After Dr. Tenma threw the detonator, some of the bombs explode while Astro attempts to neutralize it. Then follows a tearing scene where Astro forgives Dr. Tenma all his wrongdoings. Both manage to leave the building before it collapses.
