Hey all,

This may be a little off topic, but here goes:
How many of you have seen the "new" evil looking Bugs Bunny? I have and here's my reaction: :o
Warner Bros., you can kiss my butt, you bunch of corporate scum, How dare you sell out and kill Bugs. Chuck Jones is probably rolling over in his grave. This is what happens when a company only cares about the bottom line. Let's hope Tezuka Produtions doesn't ever sell out like that. Please keep our little Atomu cute, funny and with a nice disposition.

Perhaps Warner Bros. could take a lesson from Tezuka history and notice that when Tezuka was told by his editor to give Atomu a nasty disposition, the character's popularity plumited and it took a while to get it back. When a kid in a play ground was asked about the look of the new Bugs he said, with a shocked look on his face "That's an evil Bugs".

The world's going to Hell I tell you. I used to think the English dub of the current Astro was bad. I rather watch that anytime than the evil looking Bugs. ;)

As soon as I find a pic. of the "new" Bugs I'll post it.
Be prepared, it's a shocker. He doesn't even sound like Bugs anymore, more like Clint Eastwood.

For what it is worth, I don't even terribly like the new look of Astro. I know it is terribly subtle, but perhaps it is the artists working on him and just the way he is depicted, but I feel the new Astro does not have the charm of older incarnations.

I agree, O2. I think his shoulders are too small and his boots are too big.

So, mabye it isn't "Bugs" so much as a character based on him.

I guess it depends on which version of Astro you grew up with. In my childhood they weren't showing any Astro, just Gigantor reruns and live action Japanese stuff like Godzilla and Tezuka's Space Giants(Ambassador Magma). The first encounter with Astro I had was the Dark Horse manga series, and Astro changed looks all through it. So I can take any look they throw at me, as long as they don't make him ugly or evil.

The main difference between the anime Astros is his height. In the manga he went up and down in height from 3 feet to 4 feet tall(which Tezuka prefered). In the 60's anime he was about 4 feet tall. In the 80's they chibbified him making him 3 feet tall. In the current version they decided to go with the taller version, probably paying homage to Tezuka's prefered height. Tezuka's own words on the subject was something like: "Hey, I thought he looked cool like that."

Ok, as promised, I found a pic of the "new" Bugs, or shall we say "Buzz". <_< Brace Yourselves:
WARNING, MAY NOT BE SUITIBLE FOR YOUNGER VEIWERS ;)

:o   Remeber New Coke, probably not, so let's hope this is forgotten too.

Can you imagine if this were to happen to our little Atomu. Let's all ignore the subtle differences of the various designs of Astro and thank goodness he doesn't look like "Buzz". If Astro is ever redesigned like that, the world will end. Hear that, producers of the new Astro movie, don't you dare do that, PLEASE!

It reminds me of Jekyll & Hyde episode where Bugs and Daffy drink that potion and turn into huge monsters.
