I think that there just might be a method to the madness of the episodes getting mixed up in the 80s and the new 2k3 cartoon series.
Not that long ago I started reading the Astro Boy mangas, (the translated reprints from Dark Horse), and I learned that Tezuka himself shuffled the order of manga stories after their completion. He re-organized them in the order he wanted them to be read rather than the order in which they were written. I still don't completely understand what this was all about.
Anyway, although Tezuka obviously had nothing to do with the recent series, (with him being deceased and all
), he WAS involved in the 80s series. I think he passed away before it was completed though. Also he worked with the american studios in bringing the Astro Boy cartoons to North America, (he mentions on several occasions in the mangas about being annoyed with things the american studios wanted to edit and so forth.)
With all that said, is it possible that the episodes were reorganized for a reason? (Especially in the case of the 80s series, since Tezuka was actually involved there.)
