The shape of his head or would that be his cowl is similar to Photar's.

Yes, there was. Episodes 116 & 117. Also, this story originated in the 54th manga adventure (see volume 3). There is another thread relating to a fourth version of that story:

While browsing through the 1963 episode guide on the link given from this website (
http://www.astroboy.tv), I checked the Olympics episode and look at the pic on
this page. Looks like the 1963 "Photar" had his "antenna" on the working sheet!

Are the "Greatest Robot in the World" episodes in the 104 episodes that made it to the US? Maybe it's just me but I can't see them...
