Looking back, I think the best fun one could have as a kid was running home at the end of school...being chased through people's yards, dodging cars, ignoring Mom and that nagging sister or brother that complained you had gotten into their room again, and throwing ones self in front of the big old hand-me-down television your parents inherited from some old relation to watch the typical cartoon afternoon on the 99 channel but only 3 worked dial.

Dale Dorman, 1973
For me it was 1970 in Mattapan, Massachusetts running home from Kindergarden to watch Dale Dorman's kid's block on WLVI-56. It would start at 2pm with Dorman riding into the studeo on his huge Harley and then he'd perform some crazy prop stunt and scream like a lunatic. After that insanity would come the Banana Splits, you had 2 cartoons on that show...Huck Fynn and Guliver's travels and a live action called Danger Island. Then at 2:30 came Kimba the White Lion. 3:00 Speed Racer. 3:30 Astro Boy. 4:00 The Flintstones and at 4:30 a Filmation cartoon "Journey to the Center of the Earth" "The Hardy Boys" or "Fantastic Voyage"
