Your thoughts on Astro 60's set part 1?

I'm just curious about this as I've seen it online but I'm unsure about picking it up. I loved the 80's series to bits, thanks to it's endearing characters and fresh plots that didnt shy away from darker subjects like death, and I'm a fan of the 2003 series and it's at times, beautiful animation.
However I'm unsure how I'll feel about the 60's series. Whats the series generally like in tone? These days with it's limited, jerky animation would I be able to watch it. Or would I be too spoiled by the animation of the 80's and 2003 cartoons to actually enjoy them?

I. Love. Your. AVATAR.
Well, the animation IS from the 60s, so generally it is..... um, crappy. I think it was a huge acomplishment for it's time, and I think people respect that. Hey, go for it!

I'll admit it's strange, but entertainment was much different then. It's still Astro boy, so obviously, it's still good.

The best response is whether you like the manga since it sticks very close to that. I'm not sure 'crappy' is quite the right word for the animation. Rather, it is just important to understand how very little resources were available for the series (within that context, some of the animation is quite impressive.)
To me, the 60's series feels truest to the manga, but I certainly haven't been plowing through them at the same speed as the other series. Sometimes the episodes can be a bit...grating (maybe the voice acting is a bit of an issue as well..though it is basically the same team that did Kimba.)

I found it pretty jarring for the first few episodes, then I got used to the animation and the stories came through.
Of course, nothing can come close to the 80s series

, but the 60s series has the most humour.

Including the most attacks on Dr. Elefun's nose.
