Steacy Coincidence

So I went to the post office to pick up my copy of the first volume of the 60's series today & I ran into a friend of my mom's. When I told her what I was there for she told me that Ken Steacy (who drew the north american Astro Boy series that came out in the 80's) was a good friend of hers who lives here in town!

Now, I've never read those comics, and franky I find the idea of non-Tezuka (let alone non-japanese) people drawing Astro Boy comics (not to mention calling it "The Original Astro Boy") a little perverse, but I still think that was pretty cool news!

(as a side note I actually had to argue with her that her friend Ken did not invent Astro Boy, can you believe that!)

I suppose that if you had opened your volume in front of her, you wouldn't have had to argue!

But, yes, interesting coincidence!

I was thinking that myself, but it really wasn't much of an argument! :P

I had a similar embarrassing event, the details of which I will spare you. However, I will say that my at the time very limited knowledge of that subject seemed to me to be complete knowledge. I was so embarrassed when I learned the truth.
