Trouble in Tokyo: Astroboy clone

Postby mr skunk » 18 years ago

I'm a huge fan of Teen Titans, as most of you know. Recently there was an original movie broadcast on cartoon network called Teen Titans: Trouble in Tokyo.

While I was watching it, I noticed a very minor villian had similar qualities to our favorite robot hero. Tell me if you think I'm right....

See what I mean?

I thought this was funny at first, but later I found it very interesting, as many other villians had similar atributes to other Japanese pop culture references. Such as the traditional cat-girl, a mecha, and a kabuki actor who for some reason was a ghost. I don't know about anyone else, but I was very happy to see Astroboy sneak into something I would have never expected to see him in. I've known for a while he is, and always has been, a very popular pop culture icon, but I was proud of the producers for acknowledging this fact and putting in the most famous Japanese cartoon hero. :)

Dude! I've noticed it too! I kept questioning myself "is that suppose to be Astro Boy?" I thought it was cool to see him acting like a bad guy, something different.

Haha, you know what that reminds me of? That new version of Bugs Bunny that caused a whole lot of controversy. :D It's like they've given Astro the same treatment.

Hopefully, they didn't try to say it was Astro, so we will be spared the controversy :p
