You really own Madman's set, not Manga Entertainment's? Because included with Madman's are Japanese episodes #1 and #2 with subtitles on the "extras" DVD (along with other features). That's where you'll find what you are looking for. Those two were put together to create the first English episode. That's why there are missing scenes.

Welcome among us! :)

The missing episodes are in the extras DVD, maybe the last one. They were heavily edited to leave only the part about Astro.

I have the red box but it doesn't come with the little Atlas scenes.

Oh, I understand! That's too bad.

However, you can download them (Astroboy (1980 sub) 01 - The Birth of Astroboy.avi and Astroboy (1980 sub) 02 - Astro vs Atlas.avi). ;)

That isn't very telling since both Madman and Manga's boxes are red. :whistling: However since you live in the US, I think it's safe to assume that you own Manga, which indeed didn't come with those two episodes (shame on them for that, but at least there are more scenes and the Japanese audio! :D ).

i grew up on the 80's series, and recently watched the new series for the first time, couldn't get through a single episode....

the new stuff doesn't compare...it doesnt have any of the heart of the 80's series...the voices, the characters are all wrong.

I think that’s because of the director who made it wasn't TO it was some other guy. But I’ve seen all the 2003 episodes. But I can under stand where you are coming from.

And oh yeah i almost forgot, welcome Astro!

We all seem to prefer the version we saw first, although a few fans here so far have said good things about the 1980 version even if they had discovered Astro through the 2003 version.

I started to really get into the 2003 series when I saw the last 6 episodes. Those were great! The scene with :tenma: and :astro: at the end... awwww!

There are many episodes I don't care about watching again though.
