Let's say our hero is running around the world in 2008. Given the limits of today's mechanical technologies...what feats couldn't Astro do?

I say....lift 50,000+ ton ships

Operate for more than 2 hours before needing a recharge. 10 years ago, I was researching electric cells, & found that even with the newest technology of the time, the electrical power demands of a biped robot are more than the power cells could deliver. The 'battery' technology was the least advanced of all the technologies involved in robotics. :astro:

However, while that was 10 years ago, advances have been inadequate since then.
