Funimation releasing uncut One-Piece (Still Astroboy related)
Basicly, if Funimation can redo One Piece and give it the proper uncut dubbing THAT deserves, then what do you think it would take to get them to do the same for the 2003 Astro Boy?

The 2003 series was ruined by Political correctness and family oriented nutz! It cannot be fixed in an american or english version! You would have to redo the entire thing. Color Luminance chromanance all would have to be redone.
It's gone Macready! Forget it.

Dude, have you SEEN the One Piece dub? If Funimation can fix THAT they can do anything. If all else fails, they could just release it in Japanese.
I just found an article about One Piece

It looks as though they are just releasing the Japanese version subtitled. If they can do that with One Piece, they can do it with Astro Boy

It would be beating a dead horse...

Astroboy image quality as broadcast on cn before it was cancelled.

Cartoon network level color is waaay eye candy. Speed racer is a proper example of what is needed for todays audience.
However the Japanese version is better... Lovely.
I cannot see anyone spending money to "Redub" Astroboy...
The movie will come out and they will probably reissue the 2003 series, which could be fixed by running it through a program like Sony Vegas. But the probably won't adjust the Color sat or Lum and chroma. No. They spent too much money screwing it up. If they would do it like Inuyasha, and cut off the stupid start and end segments and replace them with the Japanes music that would be great. But the clowns play that stupid crap throughout the show. So it would all have to be replaced. No one would that. So it's ruined. A flop that no one wants to see. Dull colorless PC junk. Even saturday morning carttoons would make it look washed out and lifeless. You have to hit the audience with full saturated colors and eyecandy! And violence! Or your cartoon is dead! Astroboy 2003 could'nt get an audience on PBS after those clowns got through with it... Not a drop of RED was left in the print!

Well, i'm not asking for it to be redubbed. That'd be asking for too much. What i'm really asking or is the Japanese version. It's happened before. Sailor Moon got it's Japanese version released on DVD, as did Ronin Warriors. Both big name companies didn't think had an audience but these happened because fans demanded it. If it can work with them, it can work with Astro Boy. Also, i'm pretty sure the real reason Astro Boy didn't work on TV here is because it was only playe for barely a month and during that month, it was constantly bounced back and forth between Kids WB and Cartoon Network. NOTHING is going to work that way.

You keep saying it was intentional, while it was probably an accidental broadcast alteration. Well, we have already heavily discussed that in the thread you linked to, so I suppose it is pointless to argue on it again

The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

I have the Japanese language version and it is very sweet.

But the reason it failed was because it looked washed out and bland next to the other cartoons lacked violence and was boring...

Certainly no need...
Men are paid a good deal of money to work in TV. And since I was trained in video and color TV, The only way it could have happened was if it was done on purpose by a production house.
What was said at the time was...
"...dude, I'm guessing you just need to calibrate your monitor..."
Of course that was before the show was cancelled due to lack of interest.
As far as complaints of over saturation on my part goes...
The key to color in this age is RED!!!
Speed Racer is the standard for the new eye candy.

That's probably A reason. they marketed it as a boys action show whenn it really wasn't. I still say it's more of a drama (which is hard to sell in American animation) but I still stand by my thought that it may have done better if they had just picked a channel to run it on and kept running it rather than having CN and KWB play catch with it for a month
