Hi all,

Does anyone has any information about Billiken's Astroboy wind-up tintoy? I know they made a couple of them but I was not successful in fidind any information on-line. I am not sure how I can scope the discussion but I would love to know more. It can range anything from the year it was manufactured, the artist who made them, how many of them made to the availibility of it.

Not sure if it has been discussed here but appreciate some guidance on this. Cheers

The newbie from the forum.
Benny

:) Hi xcuseme!
Do you mean this one?

I came across this toy plenty of times a couple of years ago, but these days it must've become pretty much a rarity.

You still can buy it from
eBay, however the downside is you'll have to fork out US $485.00 for it. :(

It's old and rare. Toys that are old, rare, and in good condition are highly collectible and can cost a lot of money. Especially if they still have or are still in their box

Hi Strange Wings,
Thank you for your reply. I did interview some collectors as well as research the internet but, alas, the returns are little. The one that was shown, heard from some old timer collectors, was the first of the 3 editions Billiken produced back in the late 80s and early 90s. Strangely, the manufacturer's website also does not say much about the artist who made them and production number and I wonder why.

Can't wait for the movie to be release over here.

I'm sorry about your bad luck at tracking them down.
Btw, did you also come across this website? They seem to sell the tin toy more than the half less expensive than the eBay one. US $180 still is quite a considerable amount, however in regard of the product's rarity its price seems to be warrantable for me. (as far as I can tell...)
