I know how people were disappointed, or miffed, at the 2003's renaming of characters. Specifically Uran and Elefun becoming Zoran and O'Shay. Now while I haven't really got anything for Uran to Zoran, Elefun to O'Shay is actually a little interesting.

See of course the japanese name is Ochanomizu. Now see what happened when dubbed is instead of actually translating the name at all they merely did this:

-> 'Ocha' nomizu
-> Ocha
-> Osha
-> Oshay
-> O'Shay

Seet merely a shortening of Ochanomizu. Well with some minor changes, but the name is actually close to the japanese than Elefun from a literal perspective.

when i first saw the change in Uran's name i thought it was cos it started with Z
you know her brother A and his sister Z

I wish they would have called Toby by the original name of Astor and his dad as Dr. Boynton instead of Dr. Tenma. But atleast they called Dr. Elephun by his original name.

Tobio and Tenma are the original japanese names. And that's a good observation Meeshell, I didn't think of that.

I thought this would be an interesting question... Since Tobio had a dad...what ever happened to his mother??
