Does anyone have any information about the special 'Stars of the Giants vs. Astro Boy'? I know it involved the Giants Japanese baseball team

I don't know -- but it does seem like baseball would have been factored into the Astro Boy universe, as the sport is supposedly as big in Japan as it is in the US... (Yankee fan, here!!)

Yes, I do. The episode, "Star of the Giants vs. Astro boy" was a single episode of a series known as "Maeda Fugen's Rivals Under the Stars" which aired from April 5, 1969 to Sept. 27, 1969 on Saturdays from 7:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The episode in question aired on Sept. 6, 1969. The series was geared to bring characters from different series together. In this episode Atom (aka Astro Boy) and friends take on the "cast" of the series "Star of the Giants" (a baseball-based anime) in a friendly baseball game. Suffice it to say Atom & Co. are the winners in a very close game. I believe Maeda Fugen was the sponsor, but what they manufactured I am not sure. Also I believe that the word, "TetsuWan" is used to describe a strong pitcher. (As in he has an "iron arm". Also it translates as "mighty" as in "Mighty Casey at the Bat.") I  :astro: :)

I wonder -- I even bet this is available to watch online -- if only we had a way to search for it (the correct Japanese characters -- or -- some saintly liaison who could do the searching for use. Even if I can't understand what's being said, it would be delightful to view. I love a good ball game, and it would be a hoot to see Atom pitching -- was hoping to hear he might have pulled off a PERFECT GAME!!

I would like to see this ep, too
Another interesting thing to note is that up until 2008, the logo for the Seibu Lions was the adult version of Kimba.
