I know exactly how you feel, but guess what -- that's not the end of Astro Boy!!

Our wonderful fellow forum member, The Tawashi Hat Bus, provided this link to a site where you can download a copy of the manga, where the story CONTINUES! :w00t:

Scroll down to Osamu Tezuka, then select V6 (for volume six) -- it's all there, and it's interesting, plus you'll feel better after you read it, I promise!! :D

I only wish Dr. Tezuka had lived to the present day, I'll bet Astro would be bigger and better than ever (my father is the same age Tezuka would have been -- it's a shame he died so young!)

:hyo: -

Actually, Tezuka rewrote that part and titled it "Astro Returns". It was serialized in 1972 and can be found in volume 22 of the Dark Horse edition. He is found by 3 eyed aliens some time after the events of the last episode of the original tv series. They repair/modify him so he can travel threw time. He returns to earth in the distant future but later gets to go back to his time. (I don't want to spoil to much:blush :) There was going to be more but is was cut short because it was being published in a magazine for grade-school students.
[All information was found in Astro Boy volume 22 Dark Horse edition]

I've seen that episode, but guess what? Astro lives to fight another day. The story continues on the translated Dark Horse Astro Boy mangas volumes 6-8. It's a really interesting story (and a long one, considering it took up 3 whole books to tell it). Check it out.

I read in the Astro Boy Essays Tezuka always considered the Blue Knight to be Astro's final showdown, with Astro getting busted and Elefun taking him back to Ministry vowing to someday repair him.

So...yeah, his future ish not very bright.

Astro is harder to get rid of than a cockroach on steroids. LOL! But all joking aside, something tells me that we haven't seen the last of the Mighty Atom. :)
