After a long hiatus (being that I needed to buy the comics and then finish some coursework, which was video editing), I'm happy to say that the latest issue of the beloved trainwreck is out on Photobucket...
http://s333.photobucket.com/albums/m362/astroNOWcomics/Issue8/
Will this story arc end with a climatic bang? Will there be retribution, turmoil and character development? No.
I'm working on the review right now, and at the latest, it should be up by Monday.

It's done!

I had a lot of fun writing it, and I got the whole thing done in a few hours, but as always watch out for the content of my commentary.

Oh man, I seriously cried. That's one of your funniest ones yet. xD
Oh, and I'll have those two issues ready for you to download soon.
(Sorry for the wait - I picked Professor Layton and the Curious Villiage up again and...well...yeah, nothing got done...
...this reminds me of a puzzle-GOOD GOD, IT'S CONTAGIOUS! *runs*)

'Stop sending me love letters!'
They reaaaaaaaaally don't know what they're doing with this comic, it's like they're pooping out any old thing and splashing it on the paper with no disregard for what they've digested before!
Astro: violence is not the answer!
Reaaaaaaaaaaaaally, then why'd you lead a whole group of robots with weapons to confront the military in the first place? -_-;
And Tenma's insanity is starting to worry me greatly. Least in the 2003 anime you understood him being the way he was because he'd lost his son and everything, in this, he's just a crazed man that i actually feel sorry that Astro got created by such an unstable mind and drawn so cheesy

Is it me or in this panel, is Tenma's beard ON THE WRONG SIDE OF HIS HEAD? I dunno if it's just the way it's draw but thats how it looks to me... it looks like it's given up on his chin and decided to go to his neck.
Not to mention the perspective is totally off and it looks like his arms are the same length as the rest of his body. DX
I bet my Graphic Novel tutor would cry himself to sleep if he saw this. ._.
YES. ;_; Very much yes.

Now now darling,

Cause none of us were angels

IT'S ALIVE!
This comic is outstandingly the worst thing I've ever read, and while there's been worse, I factor in the fact that they misappropriated and made money off of someone else's characters, and didn't even try to put in the effort to make something good when they clearly had the means to. They took the characters of Osamu Tezuka, a man who respected all life and hated war, and made a comic talking about how awesome violence is. The last eight issues are composed of only the first 1960's episode!
@Tawashi Bus Hat: Yay!
Take your time, though. I've gotten into puzzle games like that (i.e. Miles Edgeworth) and forgotten what day it is.
@King Porky: I think the beard is supposed to look like it's being blown to the side, but beards aren't supposed to do that, especially since it should be rooted to the front of his face. As for his arms, I think Ken Steacy just didn't give a crap at a certain point in the comic. When he's in silhouette, Boynton's eyebrows jut off his head! I've seen some of Steacy's other work that is absolutely fabulous, but here, I could've done better if I were drawing on a crowded bus with my fingers taped together.
@Alittleacorn: At least in the 2003 anime, Tenma was handsome.
Here, he's an odd, blocky thing that can open cans with his nose. (I discovered these comics when I was 14 and still had a huge crush on Tenma. There is no emoticon that can represent my reaction.)
@Dragonrider1227: Link him the Photobucket album if you can! It's been my goal to make sure everyone knows these comics exist (especially Tezuka fans).

Ladies and gentlemen of the forum,
Speaking as a veteran graphic artist, who is married to a veteran illustrator, let me assure you there is but one word to describe NOW! Comics attempt at Astro Boy:
This is what you get when you start with someone who doesn't care -- and put them in charge of a project with people who also don't care, and are getting obscenely underpaid to boot.
From the warped story lines, to bizarre illustrative interpretations (such as Tenma's wayward beard) -- this is why Tezuka Productions tries to hang on to control. For that matter, I can't help but wonder if Imagi was really the best outfit to have handled the Astro Boy movie -- I was shocked to see that little toilet on the Peacemaker (Of course I laughed my butt off, too) -- Steve (husband) said "Uh-oh that's a classic case of peon artist revenge!! They were probably overworked and paid like crap, so they slipped that little 'toity' in there as a private joke!!" Wonder what else is hidden in the frames of the movie...hmmm
On the other hand, Fauna does a world class job taking this dreck and turning it into fantastic comic relief. So, it's sad to see Astro Boy ruined -- but for a silver lining, there are the reviews, which a riot.
I think my favorite part is the hallucinogenic appearance of Jean Tenma.
Watcha got in that pipe there, Dr. T?????
- don't ask, 'cause I ain't gonna tell
- yeah, we know -- you were at Woodstock with Elefun...
