Astro Boy Cosplay

I figured I would start a new thread. The Anime Boston thread was specifically for that convention and I just sorta...hijacked it towards the end. ^^;;; I also hesitated to resurrect any of the super-old costume threads. This way, any new costumes people want to post could possibly go in this thread. I hope this was appropriate. Let me know if this is a problem!
I finally finished the Astro Boy chest door! :3 The wire goes under the "skin" in my costume and the battery pack hooks onto my belt on the side. I can also hide it in the belt buckle if needed! I had way too much fun just watching the light settings. I'm planning on turning it on solid glow for most pictures, slow heart-beat mode for walking, and fast heart-beat mode for exciting moments lol. Uhh I also seriously dorked out and decided to make a head-piece so that I don't have to style my hair each time I wear him!
The headpiece is made out of a headband, foam cones which I carved and sanded to the right shape, and then I covered the "spikes" with synthetic hair extensions and hot glued the strands into place. This also gave me the opportunity to add a Widow's Peak to the headband, so that I don't have to use makeup to add it. It was challenging but fun. I like the bigger spikes, though they may be slightly over the top, hehe.

I'll be wearing the updated costume at Otakon next weekend and should have some better photos with better lighting to post after the convention. (Hehe, in this pic I didn't bother with any makeup or eye lashes) Also, a head's up for anyone going to Otakon: On Saturday morning at 9 AM they are showing the 2009 "Astro Boy" movie in the HD theater. Here's hoping it gets some fan love!
