!980s Astroboy in the U.S.A.

Does any one out there remember watching the 80s Astroboy on TV and on what channel they watched it on and when it aired, i.e., year, day, time, etc.? If you do please let me know as so far as I know, only one channel definitely aired the show in the eighties on U.S. TV. Thank you!

Sure wish Nicktoons or Disney would show 80's or the 63's or the 2003's version- love to see all of the ASTRO BOY'S episodes so much- love being a fangirl fan

I believe the 1960s version also aired on the Cartoon Network.

Hi, Jayrath! Are you sure you saw the 80s Astroboy you were part of on the "CW" in the "90s"?

As far as I know the CW which was a merger between the then UPN and the WB networks had its first broadcast in 2006! The Astro Boy series that did air on the WB & Cartoon network in 2004 was the Tezuka Pro./Sony, Inc. version from 2003-4!

For the longest time it was thought that the 80s Astroboy did not air in the U.S. I know it did air on at least on one station (WTGI channel 61), which at the time (1986) was a local UHF station broadcasting out of Philadelphia with offices in Wilmington, Del. [It aired weekdays @ 10:30am]

So if you are sure you saw it on a station in the nineties, I ask again are you sure it was the "CW"? I thank you for your response and appreciate your help!

They were running French Astro Boy on Teletoon Quebec a little while ago; I'm not sure if they still do.

Well at least I know the the first two are right because I'm the one who put them there! Any way I believe I read on one of the threads on this post (and I don't remember which one) that some member from Ohio grew up watching the 80s Astroboy, so I thought I would ask this question and see who else may know of a channel that did actually air the show back in the eighties! Thanks for your input! I would also like to thank everyone else posting responses on this thread! It's great when a community of Astro Boy enthusiasts get together just to talk about our favorite subject!

I could easily be mistaken, but it did air on a U.S. cable network in the 1990s.

Thanks Jayrath! I wish you could remember which cable station aired the show because back in the nineties I had a tough time convincing everyone and anyone that it aired in the U.S. (except for the dealer that sold me the tapes he made from when the show aired on WTGI) (Again before Manga Entertainment made the show availabble on home video in the U.S.)

I would read articles about the show in the different cult movie magazines and early anime magazines of the era (like "Animerica") and they all kept reporting that the 80s Astroboy never aired in the U.S.! So I would write in and say "Hey it aired in Philadelphia"! and sometimes they would believe me (and actually print my letter) and other times I was just ignored! So if you can remember any more specifics give a holler! Thanks again for your help! Any one else remember seeing "Astroboy" on U.S. TV? Cable maybe!?
