I was looking at the Tezuka in English website a couple of days ago. And while yes it is outdated and still mentioned that the 2009 movie was 'about to premier', it also mentioned that a new Astro Boy animated series and a possible new live-action series were also going to be made.
Now, I'm the kind of person to likes to have sources around. Does anyone know where this was stated, and when exactly? And if the above is true, are these new series still being a work in progress? Also, is it being developed by Tezuka Productions or by an overseas company much like the film?
Now, I suggest anyone reading this to not get their hopes up, even I don't know what's going on. If you ask me though, a new animated series might be nice considering it's been roughly 7 years since the 2003 series. But in the same light, that also seems too early for a new series. But that might just be me. As for a live-action series, the last time we had one was during the 60's which aired before the 60's anime. Personally I don't think this would work out as a live-action series, but who knows.
Anyway, I'm just trying to figure out if these rumors are true or not.
I've also heard another rumor, roughly seven months ago, that this dubbing company was planning to redub the 2003 series and keep it uncut. Now I cannot remember what company it was, but have we also heard anything of that sort?
Thanks.
New animated series?

"Several different Astro Boy movie projects are currently in various stages of production and pre-production. These include US and Japanese projects, Live Action, animated and CGI projects, one possibly directed by Genndy Tartakovsky, creator of the Powerpuff Girls and Dexter's Lab. Many of these recent projects have stalled, and Sony's US Astro Boy license has expired, so it is uncertain which of these, if any, will pan out."
Perhaps I ended up reading it on a different page instead, but I'm sure that's it. I don't exactly have the best memory.

They should make a new series that would be cool. I really, really hope that a live action Astro boy never see's the light of day though. Unless it is actually good which is very unlikely. Before DB evolution I loved the dragonball series but after seeing that horrible live action movie and I can't look at the anime without thinking of that horrible movie. I don't want that to happen with astro boy or any other series in particular not just anime.

The DB Evolution movie was made by an American company who had rocks for brains. At least the 2009 Astro Boy film was decent and a bit enjoyable.
America has it in for ruining good series. But, if a series is being created by a more trusted company, then it's more likely to be good. Anyway don't let the terrible DB movie ruin the DB series for you. I still love that series to this day.
I tried watching it after that movie. It is impossible for me to look at the DB series and not think of that movie (what's unbelievable is that they're suppose to be doing two sequels to DB evolution) . The 2009 movie was OK I personally didn't think it was that great but it wasn't horrible either but it could have been far better. I have read a couple rumors of a sequel to that movie but I would much rather seeing a new anime series. I doubt an astro boy sequel will come out either but then again, anything is possible.

Rommel aws in it.
