Tenma Hair: The Lost Gene

Postby Fauna » 14 years ago

Now, I believe at this point in time, we're all familiar with the state of his hair, which manages to hold an extremely beautif...er, unnatural shape that seems to be part of his genes, even carrying on into his facial hair.

Now, while I've seen it infrequently elsewhere, I feel it is important to mention that there are other animated people with similar hair. Such as Kenji Murasame of Tetsujin 28, whose hair was actually part of sight gags (like when he put on a cloth face mask and his hair loudly sprang back up):

Inspector Shiratori from Detective Conan, whom had a lighter amount of the gene:

And now, I'm going to weird you all out...Neil Arthur, frontman of Blancmange, whom looked like this for the first half of the eighties:

For a female side, Kei from Dirty Pair had a similar but not exactly true Tenma hairstyle, so maybe the gene is rare in females.

...Okay, so clearly I'm making up the part of it being a gene, but I just wanted to goof off tonight. Aside from my examples, has anybody else noticed Tenma hair in non-Tezuka media?

Okay, Kenji's hair made me laugh.

I don't really know anyone else with Tenma hair. I've seen plenty of mullets though, but that's about it.

its a fact men like Tenma must have soft hair ;) i mean, hello, if he keeps himself cleaned and straight, then his keeps his hair clean and combed, Hoshie wouldn't allow her man to go out looking like he hasn't touched water

Not all men have soft hair, some are born with different kinds. But considering how fluffy Tenma's hair looks, it might be soft. But it might also feel slick and oily if he uses hair gel, which would explain the shininess in the 2003 series.

On topic... would Winston Payne's mullet from Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney: Trials & Tribulations be considered 'Tenma hair'? Probably not.

just a tit bit but Brown and Black hair naturally shinier then other colors of human hair also a dominant trait in humans, so thus explains the shine in the 03 series no jell reguired.

the pictures that were shown, they look out-there but, I think the Pluto illustration for Tenma is very realistic

Well, except Tenma's hair was a lot more shinier than normal, to the point where it almost looked solid.
