Astro Boy Showreels

Postby Alittleacorn » 14 years ago

There are a lot of Astro Boy Showreels out there from people who animated the movie (and if you were that interested in watching more, then go to my playlist where i've favourited them and some other stuff x3) but I recently found some new ones I wanted to share with you.

Showreel 1: Behind the Scenes
This just has how many of the scenes in the movie were animated before lighting and stuff were added in. It just look cool lol

Showreel 2: Astro does a funny walk XD
I am not kidding, wait a little while and he'll do it. Also in the scene with the discussion with Hamegg he's wearing his jacket where as in the movie he isn't. Maybe since they needed a reason for Astro not to be wearing it when he got the Robot Games battle vest.

Showreel 3: Models
These show some the details of the soldier and Ronny models along with the inside of Astro's ear, yes his ear XD

Love these show reels!! I don't know how these people do these movies -- because when you see what they look like "underneath" it's amazing what you end up with. BTW did you see the toilet on the Peacemaker on this one at image #12?

I wonder if this is the person who put it on there!!XD

Astro's "cool guy" walk looks like "Staying Alive" should be playing in the background XD

Here's a few new ones I found

Showreel: Old Astro animation test and robot games
This has got some more from the movie, but some test animating of how Astro originally looked. You can also find another reel of the old Astro playing the piano, I find this one interesting because if you look closely when Astro and Cora are going upstars there IS a piano in Hamegg's workshop (even in the artwork in the dvd during the making), so who nows maybe they were thinking of him actually playing it.

Showreel: Thaaaat's Amore! ^_____^
Why do I say this, because the others haven't been animated and it's just Astro and Cora together. There's also animation in President Stone's airship, Toby's death, Astro escape from Metro City and different audio spoken when Astro says 'is the peacekeeper gone?'

Showreel: Classroom and beyoooond
This shows some animation of what's on the projection screen, the kids cleaning Zog and the RRF. There's some scratch audio at the start, this is what they put in place sometime if the voice actors haven't recorded the lines yet.

Showreel: Problems
(Astroboy stuff is halfway through) This shows a couple of the issues they had while making the movie, and something about Astro's hair that I didn't really get o_O something about shaking some Marco.

@Androids101
This is the animation stage, so the models and backgrounds are low quality so it doesn't take up too much power, since if they were to do animating with the final product their computers would really slow down, i'm guessing anyway lol.

With this though Astro and the gang models are just like the ones for the movie except with the texture and clothes animation removed, but there are even blockier motionless ones that are used to decide where to fit everybody before the animators. You have find how it was done from here.

I'm not sure, animators just animate mostly, they might not have been the ones to do the Peacekeeper, think about it a whole bunch of people have animated Astro too o.o. Although I would like to know how suggest the toilet.

Wait, doesn't TOBY do Astro's funny walk a bit? o_o

*Ahem* As I am not at the library right now, I can watch none of these. However, I'll watch them as soon as I possibly can. (Btw, do you know where I can watch complete versions of clips in showreels? I still really wanna see that Jack-in-the-Box bit, and the piano skits, but I can't, because you can't just download stuff onto the computers at the library, and they don't have Quicktime Player on any of their computers, as far as I know- the one I was using didn't; I'll have to ask the next time I'm there.)

Anyways, though, the last time I was there, I found something. It was a showreel with some old Astro Boy stuff on it. It starts with Astro playing with a soccer ball (I think that this actually made it onto the DVD somewhere, in one of the special features, as a way to introduce or conclude a clip; however, as I do not actually own a copy of the disc, I cannot be sure), but the really interesting thing shows up at the end of the reel. The next time I'm at the library, and if it's not already on this list, I'll post it for you. This is pretty much all you'll ever see of those old screenshots of Astro vs. an early Zog in action.
lolwut
